Stage size should be a minimum of 3 X 6 metres. Bigger is better, allowing room for a more dynamic performance from the participants. Restricted room = restricted performance! With larger audiences it is preferable to initially have as many on stage as will fit. As the show progresses, the more responsive participants remain, while others are returned to their seats in the audience. Easy stair access to the stage, preferably from the front and centre, is essential, as audience participation is an integral part of the show. Adequate stage lighting is required with the ability to darken the audience area.
The stage needs to accommodate at least 12 straight back armless chairs. Stacking type banquet chairs are ideal. It is crucial that the chairs are Armless. Folding chairs are also unsuitable for the hypnosis show.
By prior arrangement, Luke can provide a sound system should it be necessary, if the show is within driving distance of Sydney. However he doesn’t carry sound equipment on aircraft so on these occasions an approved (by Luke) sound system will need to be provided and set up ready to roar.
It will consist of 2 front of house speakers (size dependent on the size of the venue), a sound mixer, and at least one fold back speaker. It is essential that the volunteers in Luke’s show can hear the hypnotic suggestions above the guffawing audience. In-Ceiling-type public address systems are inadequate for this purpose.
The Show is based on audience participation and requires 80+ people seated in the audience. Audience participants cannot be inebriated when entering hypnosis (drunks can’t be hypnotized!). So for this reason, having the audience drinking alcohol for hours before the show’s commencement is not an acceptable situation. I had occasion to cancel a show due to this. Cancellation fees do apply should this be the circumstance.
Video footage is strictly prohibited, and it is requested that signs advising such are posted at the entrances to the venue. Exceptions to this may be permitted in some circumstances by prior arrangement. On such occasions it is required that an entire unedited copy is forwarded to Luke.
